50 big ones!!!
i everyone, what a great weekend for the team! We all won a prize.
I went over to Nelson for their flat track series with Grace, Brad and Alistair The track was dry & rocky, it was mean.
Practice: In the practice I did 1 look lap and 2 fast laps, the track was really fast and flowing, I could tell I was going to do well.
Race 1: I got an awful start because the guy on the gates let the gates drop as soon as the 10 second board changed to the 5 second board, it was really unexpected. I worked through the field up to 3rd, I rode my own race from then on pulling a big gap on 4th. (more…)
Middle Of The south Champs – GRACIE
Practice race: well it was a fast, dry & dusty track. There wasn’t as many girls as I thought there would be but they were fast. Sophie & I were the only girls riding from Blenheim. I had a really good look around the track because after the last few races, I have had bad practice races & I was hoping not to again.
Race 1: It was a dusty path to the first corner & I couldn’t see much until about halfway through the first lap, when most of the girls were up ahead. It was a great track but would have been better if it wasn’t so dusty. Because I had never really ridden in the dust before it was a bit difficult to get used to the change from mud/dirt. It was a good race especially as I didn’t fall off, even if I did come last. (more…)
Kawasaki Good Time Scramble – Brad #303
It all started on Saturday, I went out to help mark out the track but somehow I managed to time it perfectly & arrived just when Pete & the helpers had finished. Luckily I had my bike on the back so it gave us a chance to see if it was going ok on the track.
SUNDAY: The early fog burnt of by the time it was the practice race & that was the last of the bad weather, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
RACE 1: Wow thee must have been 40+ riders in the small MX class!! I got the holeshot. I was having a good battle & I also had a wee lay down but got back up to 2nd, then the leader did the same thing on the same corner!!. I took back the lead & won the 1st race.
RACE 2: This was the age group race lot, there were heaps if fast guys in this one!! I got another hole shot YEAH!!!! I made a few mistakes; I also got some arm pump & slipped back to 4th.
RACE 3: Another small MX, another hole shot, I had an awesome battle with a Nelson rider. He passed me on the last lap but I still came 2nd.
RACE 4: Age group race. I decided to start from the back for passing practice. Trust me I’d rather start from the front!! I ate so much roost & had bruises for about a wee after. I made it up to 3rd by the last lap, I was very happy with that.
RACE 5: The feature race pro. I got an ok start & went to the inside & worked my way to 2nd by the first lap. Then to 1st by the second lap, it felt really good until I hit a berm to hard & smashed through it. I got over taken but got back on the track in 2nd, there wasn’t enough time to catch the leader. I still managed 2nd which was awesome.
I would like to thank Pete for getting my bike going so well. I would also like to thank Peter Grinter Motorcycles & Kawasaki for the cool spot prizes.
Till next time Brad # 303
