Getting the feel for my new KX125

Written by Shaun Andrews

Hi everyone. The flat track round 1 & 2 was my first outing on my new 2008 KX125. The weather conditions were awesome for the weekend, so I could get a good feel for the new bike. The look lap was my first real ride on my bike, it felt a little heavy & big at the start, compared to the KX85. By the end of the day I was coming to terms with the bike & was starting to get a little more comfortable. By the end of the weekend I was starting to get some good speed on the track. My best result was a 3rd & at the end of the weekend I was sitting in 4th overall. I am looking forward to the Michael Godfrey Memorial this weekend & I have been out doing some training, I have also been making some minor adjustments to the bike to amp up my riding.

My build up to the Michael Godfrey Memorial MX Christchurch

Written by Mitchell:

I’m really looking forward to racing this weekend. I’m a bit nervous because I’m not to good on big hills, but the older team members reckon I will be fine. We had a fantastic training day on Sunday, I learnt how to go up the hill properly & as long as I focus I’m fine. After we left practice we went to my Grandads farm in Seddon, where I practised my starts. This will be my first race on my brand new KX85 (thanks PGM racing), the bike is looking really sharp! During the race weekend my Grandma is coming up from Invercargill to watch me & also Grandad hopefully is coming from Blenheim, so I’ll have heaps of support. I’m  staying in Hanmer Springs, so on Monday I’ll be relaxing in the hot pools. If you check back in on Tuesday night I will have my race review on here for you to read & some photos.

WHAT A GREAT TIME ON MY NEW KX85

Written by Gracie

DAY 1:

Race 1: I messed up my start but the track was great. I loved the corners, especially the 2nd one from the start gates. The new bike was great & way faster than my KLX125, which is good.

Race 2: I stalled at the start but the second time around the track seemed much easier than the first. There were more girls than I thought, everyone seemed really friendly & helpful.

Race 3: I couldn’t wait to get out on the track again. I had a really great time on the new KX85, but I messed up my start again.

Race 4: It was the last race & the best race too. I had got alot better on my new bike. The track had great traction.

DAY TWO:

Race 1: Dam! my spark plug oiled up but thankfully a few guys helped me start it again. It was the first race of the day, so I was really excited & the track was awesome.

Race 2: I was so happy, I had a great start & was having a really good time. After the races lots of people gave me some really good advice.

Race 3: I had another great start & I also got the hang of a 2 stroke.

Race4: I was really tired at this point, my last race for the day. I had got my starts sorted & I had a great time with the team.

Thanks everybody for loads of help & thanks to PGM racing for my scholarship.

I GOT THE HOLE SHOT!

Written by Mitchell Parnwell

This was my first competitive competition so I was pretty nervous.

ROUND ONE:

Race 1: I was nervous at the gates but I was 3rd into the first corner. I had an awesome battle with Ben Wells but I took a different line than him & I got him on the last lap, I ended up coming 3rd.

Race 2: I had a good start I was 2nd in the first corner but I was passed twice. I was going hard around a corner & my front wheel washed out, causing me to fall off the bike. I fought back hard & got back to 5th, but that was all I could manage.

Race 3:I was 3rd into the first corner, keeping this position for most of the race, but I came off & started dead last!. Amazingly I fought back up to 4th. I was rapt with that effort.

Race 4: I got the holeshot ! But got passed in the 2nd corner. I was getting pretty tired by this stage & I didn’t want to come off, so I sat back in 4th for the remainder of the race.

ROUND TWO:

Race 1: I had a good start & the track had good traction. I tried hard & ended up coming in 4th place, I was a bit disappointed about that.

Race 2: I had another good start & was running in 2nd place, with only 2 laps to go unfortunely I made a small mistake & came off.I restarted in 7th position &  finished in 4th position.

Race 3: I was 3rd around the first corner & rode very well all though the race. I kept a good distance ahead of the 4th place rider & I finished 3rd.

Race 4: I had an awesome start to this race, in lap 3 I was 4th  & closing in on 3rd fast.I pressured the 3rd place rider eventually forcing him to make a mistake & he came off, I rode over his back wheel & went off the track. Once I got back on the track, I kept the power on & I finished 3rd. I was stoked with my effort.

The whole weekend was awesome & well run. I’m currently in 4th position in overall points in the 8-10yrs 85cc Class.

I would like to thank PGM racing for this great opportunity & to all my team mates I hope we have a awesome season.
